What does AuthorRank have to do with SEO?

I just finished reading the article What is AuthorRank? and really enjoyed the infographic they have set up there.

As I’ve been working on building up an SEO company and providing other businesses with these services over at Brain Smart SEO, I thought I should learn about this and even share what I was learning… Okay, maybe I’m a little obsessed and want to dominate the first page of Google for my clients. There…I said it.

Anyway, after learning about the benefits of AuthorRank and how easily it can be added to your websites I decided to create a video tutorial on how to do it.

How to Connect With Your Customers on Social Media

A common question that people have when they are learning about implementing social media into their business is:

How do I find where my customers are?

social media tips

This is a great question and there is really only one way to find out. You can spend time asking all of your customers where they spend time, but that can be time consuming. Time is our most valuable asset so we don’t want you wasting your time.

There is a shortcut to finding where your audience is right now and I’m going to share with you the easiest way to find this out.

As a small business owner, you should have a rolodex that has your entire customer database. Find your top 1,000 customers and prospects and take their email addresses from this rolodex. (No, you won’t be spamming them!)

Your next step is to create a brand new gmail account (they’re free) and to load all of these emails into your new gmail account. Your next step is to go to each of the social networks Facebook, Twitter, etc and sign up for them. It’s going to ask you if you’d like to find your friends using your address book, you are going to select gmail and count the number of people in your customer database that are on each service.

If your customers are already on Twitter, you should spend some time connecting with them on twitter. If they are on Facebook, but not on LinkedIn then you should spend more time on Facebook instead of LinkedIn.

The secret is to find where they already are and to make it convenient for them to communicate with you through these networks.

How are you making it easy for your customers to communicate with you?

How to Unlock More of Your Brain Power

Brain Power is something that we are constantly trying to improve.

It seems like a lot of the products that are being released are out there to help you think faster, improve your memory, comprehend information better and to truly unleash your brain’s full potential.

Do stupid things faster with more energy

Even signs like this are being sold on Amazon. (I laugh every time I see this)

More and more information is becoming available on how to unlock more of your brain power so I thought it would be a good idea to create a resource to help you improve your brain power.

Below is a list of things you can do to unlock more brain power:

  • Cultivate ambidexterity. You always brush your teeth and eat your food with the same hand. Take notice of this and switch it up.  You can also start juggling today which helps ambidexterity.
  • 5 Why’s. When stuck on projects, ask yourself 5 “Why’s”. This will help you to get more detailed on your answers and brings more of your childhood curiosity back into your life.
  • Think positive thoughts. You’re already thinking all day anyway, why not think positive thoughts?
  • Eat Brain Foods. You can learn about brain foods here and why you should start to incorporate them into your diet.
  • Listen to music. Music has a profound impact on your life and if you listen to the Baroque style of music and do work, your productivity will soar through the roof. Baroque music pulses between 50 to 80 beats per minute. Baroque music “stabilizes mental, physical and emotional rhythms,” according to Chris Boyd Brewer, “to attain a state of deep concentration and focus in which large amounts of content information can be processed and learned.”
  • Train Your Brain. When you take the time to train your brain, everything becomes possible.
  • Learn a foreign language. Learning a foreign language is one of the best things you can do to unlock more of your brain power. It will also make you more intelligent and a better communicator.
  • Start a blog. Learning to write has had a profound impact on the way I view the world. I never used to enjoy writing and now use it as a tool for personal growth and to share what I learn. You can learn to start a blog in 24 hours here.
  • Learn to speed read
  • Commit to lifelong learning. Never stop learning. If you can, try to learn something new every day.
  • Admit your problems out loud. I wrote a blog post all about my weaknesses to not only admit them to myself, but to free myself from these limiting beliefs I had about my weaknesses.
This is just a starting point to unlock more of your brain power. The more activities like these that you do, the more of your brain power you will be unlocking.

Do you have any experiences that helped you unlock more of your brain power?

What is The Reptilian Brain?

In the deep of the human brain there exists a very ancient layer called the Reptilian Brain (Reptilian complex), which controls the most instinctive behavior of the human being. This Video explains his nature, his origin and the devastating repercussions in the society due to his constant over-activation.

The reptilian complex, also known as the R-complex or “reptilian brain” was the name MacLean gave to the basal ganglia, structures derived from the floor of the forebrain during development. The term derives from the fact that comparative neuroanatomists once believed that the forebrains of reptiles and birds were dominated by these structures. MacLean contended that the reptilian complex was responsible for species typical instinctual behaviors involved in aggression, dominance, territoriality, and ritual displays. Why People Will Remember Nicki Minaj’s Grammy 2012 Performance

All day today I’ve been hearing people talk about Nicki Minaj and what she did on the Grammy’s. I personally didn’t watch the Grammy’s, but I understand the impact that it has on people.

Huffington Post wrote an article titled, Nicki Minaj’s ‘Exorcism’: Catholic League Blasts Artist’s Grammys Performance (VIDEO) that I read after my hair stylist had asked me about it and I had no idea what she was talking about.

She was the fourth or fifth person today to talk about it to me (along with hundreds of people on twitter) and that got me interested.

I thought about why people remember information and why they share it. This led me to watching the video and learning exactly why people were interested in and talking about this. Check out the video below:

While you may or may not like Nicki Minaj, you have to admit that she gets reactions from people.

As someone who is fascinated with ways to help people improve their memories and finding ways to do things better, I wanted to share with you a little bit of information about why Nicki is getting so much buzz lately.

Our brains are wired so that we remember things that we are emotionally invested in. The more emotions that we get involved with a specific activity or event, the more likely we will remember it. When Nicki performs, she gets people emotionally involved in her songs and performances. She does this by wearing costumes that are a little out there as well as doing some performances that cause some people to become upset.

In this instance, she came out with a man dressed as the pope and then performed with people dressed religiously. This caused quite a stir with Catholics, but ended up getting a reaction which is what she ultimately wanted.

When people get emotionally involved in something, they will remember it. When you are creating your next marketing campaign, be sure to create campaigns that will get people emotionally involved in the process.

What experiences do you have with creating marketing campaigns that cause your prospects to have an emotional connection with your product or service?
